"We met Dr Carrie Jurney about 6 years ago when we were referred to her by our local vet for further workup for our dog, Wilson, for what turned out to be Idiopathic Epilepsy. It was a long, nerve wracking hour and 45 minute drive to her office. We were greeted and put into an exam room. She came in, introduced herself and sat down on the floor and got to know Wilson. We told her what had been happening and what brought us to her. She listened but the whole while was connecting with Wilson. Talking to him (even though he's deaf), examining him. She even took the time to watch a short video we had of Wilson during one of his episodes. We were exhausted and scared and she took the time to talk to us, to explain what she thought was going on, what tests she thought were important, and how she thought we should proceed. She was knowledgable and caring and took time to talk to us. We did those tests, had blood work done and came up with a diagnosis of Idiopathic Epilepsy. We left feeling that he would be ok, that we could handle this, and we had someone in our corner. Over time the relationship between the four of us deepened and got to a point where if we had a problem we could call her, discuss it, and make changes then and there. We still saw her twice a year for blood work but in between we could call. We were really devastated when she moved her practice and we had to part ways. Happy for her but really sad for us. It wasn't for very long though. We carried on and went to see another vet in the group. When Wilson went into crisis again and the new vet wasn't available we called Carrie and she told us to come right up (over a 2 hour drive) and she saw him straight away. We honestly thought that it was the end. She told us we still had some wiggle room with his meds but if we couldn't do it anymore it was ok to let him go. We had done more than a lot of people. We had given him a loving caring home and it was ok. She sat with us as we cried and she teared up as well. That was almost two years ago now. Wilson is doing fantastic and Dr. Jurney is moving on to another endeavor. We've seen 7 different vets through this experience and while they were all good we wouldn't trade Dr. Jurney and the relationship we have with her for any of them. We can't put in to words how much we have come to appreciate her and the relationship we have with her. If your pet (four legged child) should ever be in need of an animal neurologist, we don't think you could do better. She knows what she's doing and she does it with skill and compassion. Quite frankly, you'd be lucky to have her." - Amy, Rachelle and Wilson
